On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 16-19 stations on 2 deck looking forward showing the closed watertight door at 16 station with an automatic emergency lantern alongside it. The Fellows Bros Ltd lifting gear above the hull outfit 20 (sonar type 174) access trunk is on the right beyond the open hatch leading down to 3 deck. On the left is the canteen display window with fuse panels on either side of the door to the senior ratings recreation space. A fire extinguisher, a cable stowage bracket and an emergency change over switch and connection box are also against the port bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
