On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 19-23 stations on 2 deck looking aft and to port towards the closed watertight door at 23 station. The closed roller shutter of the canteen is on the right and next to the canteen is a cold water dispenser and notice boards. A transformer, fire hose basket, telephone and emergency connection box are against the gun bay on the left. A vertical format negative.
