On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 30½ to 38 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard showing the open door to the wardroom pantry on the right with three fuse panels on the pantry bulkhead. Boxes of Schweppes dry ginger ale are stacked alongside the pantry door. The watertight door at 30½ station is open and an automatic emergency lantern is alongside it. In the lobby between 30½ and 32 stations are stairs up to 1 deck and an open hatch leading down to 3 deck.
