On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 22-24 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward and slightly to starboard showing the gun bay on the left. The ammunition hoist pump and motor arrangements and the feed tank are at the end of the space. A fire party locker and spare turret shores are against the ship's side. Oil refuelling hoses are stowed under the deckhead. A vertical format negative.
