On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the operations room between 31½ and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking forward showing an Admiralty Research Laboratory plotting table and console on the left with a clock reading 11.11. In the centre is an indicator azimuth range track visual display unit and a conning intercom. Against the forward bulkhead is the aircraft and helicopter stateboard. Against the starboard bulkhead are two visual display units and another Admiralty Research Laboratory plotting table. A vertical format negative.
