On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the electronic warfare office between 35½ and 38½ stations on 1 deck looking forward on the port side showing the HF/VHF bay on the left and the MF/HF intercept bay on the right. In the left foreground are two body harnesses for carrying portable equipment. Under the intercept bay is a portable transmitter/receiver radio which has 'This will float' on it. An electronic emission policy board is under the deckhead. A CO² fire extinguisher is on the extreme right. A vertical format negative.
