On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the helicopter hangar between 49 and 57 stations on the centreline of 1 deck looking forward and to port showing a hose stowage bracket, a fire fighting trolley, a four drawer filing cabinet, a fuse panel, a Thermotank air conditioning unit and an high level shelf against the port bulkhead. In the corner are a workbench with a cupboard above it and a shelf rack reaching to the underside of the deckhead. Against the missile hoist trunking is an aerial stretcher and to the right of the missile hoist trunking is a cleaning tank with two taps. Forward of the watertight door are an automatic emergency lantern, a control box, a flight deck foul weather clothing locker and a Thermotank air conditioning unit. On the right is a workbench with a vice and a fire hose basket fitted to it and above the bench is an hydraulic winch. A vertical format negative.
