On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the helicopter hangar between 49 and 57 stations on the centreline of 1 deck looking forward and to starboard showing a fire extinguisher and a Thermotank air conditioning unit on the left. A workbench with a vice and a fire hose basket fitted to it and an hydraulic winch and a Thermotank air conditioning unit above it are against the bulkhead. A rag tank is under the stairs leading up to a storage platform and the air electrical maintenance room. A first aid cabinet, a ladder and a firesuit man's locker are against the starboard bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
