On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the passageway at 57 station on 2 deck looking aft and to port showing the port bulkhead between 57 and 60 stations. The door to the air lock 2L1-Fwd is on the right. A fire main, a Y branch, two drums of chemical foam liquid, three fire hose baskets, five fuse panels and a telephone are against the port bulkhead. A fire extinguisher, an automatic emergency lantern and a loudspeaker are on the left.
