The Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay and the photographer is on the quayside looking forward and slightly to port from abreast 73 station. The quadruple GWS 20 Seacat missile launcher and the single 20mm oerlikon gun have canvas covers. The top of the foremast is out of the picture.
