The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the junior ratings mess between 27 and 31 stations on the centreline of 3 deck looking forward and to port showing the recreation area. A table and seven chairs are in the centre. An electric fire, a Thermotank air conditioning unit, an automatic emergency lantern and a letter rack are against the port bulkhead. Mess lockers and kit lockers are against the forward bulkhead and stairs lead up to 2 deck.
