On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the wheelhouse between 27½ and 29 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking forward and slightly to starboard showing the wheel on the right and a revolution order transmitter to the left of it. Against the forward bulkhead are the Admiralty gyro master compass tape repeater, the gyro compass tape repeater and the rudder indicator. A telephone is on the left. A vertical format negative.
