The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the senior rates mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward on the port side showing a settee bench with drawers under and a loudspeaker at high level against the port bulkhead. Six easy chairs and a thermotank air conditioning unit are on the right and a coffee table with four ash trays is in the centre. A letter rack and two full height lockers are by the door to the mess in the port forward corner.
