The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the junior rates mess between 68 and 75 stations on 3 deck looking aft and to port from the starboard forward corner showing three triple tier bunk units against the ship's side on the left. Three tables and nine chairs are in the centre of the space with a triple tier bunk unit, two kit lockers and suitcase racks to port. Two kit lockers with an electric fire are in the right foreground. A cable stowage bracket, a cleaning gear locker, seven kit lockers and two boots or dirty clothes lockers are against the aft bulkhead. A display of beer mats, advertizing signs and England rosettes are above the cleaning gear locker.
