The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the junior rates mess between 57 and 62½ stations on 3 deck looking aft from just to port of the centreline at the forward end showing greatcoat cupboards and suitcase racks on the left. Two framed and glazed notices are mounted against the backs of triple tier bunk units on the right. A fire extinguisher and an automatic emergency lantern are alongside the open door into the adjoining mess for junior rates. A vertical format negative.
