On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the junior rates mess between 57 and 62½ stations on 3 deck looking aft on the starboard side showing three triple tier bunk units, seven kit lockers with boots or dirty clothes lockers above, a suitcase rack, a cable stowage bracket, a fire extinguisher and a Thermotank air conditioning unit.
