On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the officer's cooks and stewards mess between 62½ and 66 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck fooking forward showing two double tier bunk units, four easy chairs, a clock reading 10.57, a loudspeaker, an electric iron stowage, a folded armchair, a framed painting and a plaque with a crest and motto on it.
