On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the engineer's office between 47 and 49 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to starboard and aft showing a desk with a Leader diary on it. A small combination safe, an engineroom intercom and speaker and a calender showing Wednesday February 26 are against the starboard bulkhead. Against the aft bulkhead are a telephone and a Plessey Automation indicating assembly comprising a Mk 5 and a Mk 6 indicating units.
