On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the transmitting station between 26 and 28¼ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from near the door showing a key cabinet next to the door. An Admiralty fire control box Mark II is against the aft bulkhead. Three control panels and four fuse panels are against the starboard bulkhead and two portable units are on the deck. In the foreground is a wooden case containing Sperry Gyro Co Ltd field service equipment.
