On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the galley preparation space between 41 and 46 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from 44 station showing the cool room and starter panel in the starboard aft corner. The refrigeration machinery is behind the wire mesh doors under the worktop. On the worktop are a set of scales, a Camwheat pie making machine and various stores including a large sack of Lingards onions. On the shelf above are a large machine whisk and a carton of Dawn margarine.
