On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the galley preparation space between 41 and 46 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port from 45 station showing a stainless steel worktop and sink unit with a hot water urn, tins and a plastic bucket on it. Refuse crates are under the unit and a shelf is above it. Against the aft bulkhead are a mixing and mincing machine and a drawer and cupboard unit and above this unit is a shelf on which there are packets of Jacob's cream crackers. The arched opening into the servery has a wash basin, soap dispenser and paper towel holder by the side of it.
