On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is looking aft, to starboard and up from 49 station on the port side of 1 deck showing the A/S 12 missile hoist monorail mounted between the forward bulkhead of the hangar and the emergency conning position base at 01 deck level. A net is slung under the aft end of the Seacat launcher deck and above the monorail. Behind the monorail is the door to the foam proportionater compartment.
