The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the 4.5 inch shell room between 19 and 23 stations on 4 deck looking to port and slightly aft from the forward end showing the dumping platform and rope ladder in the foreground. The shell hoist is on the left and a fire extinguisher is fixed to a pillar. Open shelves for the stowage of small arms ammunition are against the ship's side. A vertical format negative.
