On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the combined radar office between 36½ and 41 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to starboard and forward from near the door showing a visual display unit on the deck. Against the starboard bulkhead are a fuse distribution panel for radar supplies manufactured by Aish & Co Ltd of Poole, an automatic emergency lantern and two CO² fire extinguishers.
