On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the naval store office between 66 and 68 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft and to starboard showing a key cabinet against the ship's side. In the aft end of the officeare filing card cabinets, a covered typewriter, a notice board and a copy of B.R. 2014 (Mods) "Handbook for Q.F. 4.5 inch Mark 5 gun on R.P. 41 twin Marks 6. 6· and 6·Mod 1 mountings modifications". A large ventilation trunking dominates this end of the office.
