On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the canteen between 18½ and 21 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking forward showing the single pedestal desk of the canteen manager with a notice board above it. A calendar for March 1969 is on the notice board. A Thermotank air conditioning unit and an electric fire are against the forward bulkhead. Cartons of Smith's crisps and Westons Wagon Wheels are on the deck. On shelves under the deckhead are boxes of Basildon Bond and Croxley Cambric stationery. Wilkinson Sword razor blades and Bryant & May's matches are on the left. A vertical format negative.
