On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the conversion machinery and radar power room between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft and to starboard showing a motor generator on the deck and against the side of the ship are three rectifiers. Against the aft bulkhead are two fuse panels, a voltage regulator and four drawer filing cabinet. The battery stowage is in the right foreground.
