On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the conversion machinery and radar power room between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft and to port showing a four drawer filing cabinet, a resistance box and a junction box against the aft bulkhead. The battery stowage is in the foreground. Against the port bulkhead are two automatic change over switch panels, a Muirhead motor generator and an automatic emergency lantern. A telephone is fixed to a pillar on the extreme right.
