On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the bridge between 27½ and 31½ stations on 01 deck looking to starboard from the centreline showing a radar state cabinet equipped with keys next to a communications desk against the forward screen. The desk is equipped with a telephone, a speaking tube, a microphone, a morse key, telephone switch and connection boxes and a broadcast speaker. The door to the bridge wing is closed.
