The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is the steering gear compartment between 75 and 80 stations on 3 deck looking forward on the port side showing part of the hydraulic storage tank, the hydraulic pumps pressure indicator panel and the emergency starter for the port steering motor. The wire cage enclosing the steering gear is on the right.
