On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the torpedo stowage compartment between 51½ and 54 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking forward and to starboard showing stowage for tie bars, depth charge connecting band securing rods, a wheel spanner and holding down saddles for 600 lb bombs against the forward bulkhead. Racks for the stowage of six torpedoes are against the starboard bulkhead and two torpedo trolleys are on the deck. A vertical format negative.
