On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is on the roof of the bridge looking down, to port and aft at the bridge wibng between 30½ and 34 stations on the port side of 01 deck showing an azimuth repeater, a ten inch signalling projector, two loudspeakers, a hand grenade locker, two microphones and a telephone handset. Outboard are two covered liferafts. A vertical format negative.
