On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is looking down and aft from the starboard side of the bridge roof showing the bridge wing between 30½ and 34 stations on the starboard side of 01 deck. A telephone handset, an hand grenade locker, three microphones, two loudspeakers, an azimuth repeater and a ten inch signalling projector are against the bridge screen and two covered liferafts are outboard.
