On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is looking aft from the port side of the air lookout position at 32 station on 02 deck. On the left is the gun direction platform with the MRS3 director abaft it. On the right is the canvas covered 3 inch Knebworth-Corvus rocket launcher with the canvas covered single 20 mm oerlikon cannon abaft it. On 01 deck level are a pyro tank flood valve locker, an air treatment unit, the port signal flag locker and the 25 feet motor cutter in its davits.
