On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The photographer is in the bridge wing between 30½ and 34 stations on the port side of 01 deck loking forward and very slightly to port. Against the side screen are an azimuth repeater, a ten inch signalling projector, two loudspeakers, two microphones, a telephone handset, an hand grenade locker and a foot step. The Royal Fleet Auxiliary store carrier Hebe (1962) can be dimly discerned through the mist berthed at the eastern end of the basin. A vertical format negative.
