On board the submarine Walrus (1959) alongside the fitting out berth at Scott's Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd shipyard at Greenock, on the Clyde. The photographer is in the main generator room between 77 and 92 stations on the main flat looking aft and to starboard from 80 station on the centreline showing the starboard Admiralty Standard Range 1 VMS 16 cylinder diesel engine. Fitted to the front of the engine are a panel containing 15 circular gauges, an r.p.m. gauge, and an Ardleigh governor. Each of the cylinders in the right bank is fitted with a circular temperature gauge. Above the engine are a depth gauge and an induction hull valve stop snorting telegraph. A vertical format negative.
