The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 40 and 43½ stations on 01 deck looking forward and to port from the starboard side at 42½ station showing the communications ratings positions on the right. In the forward extension are the captain's high chair, the compass pedestal and a clock reading 09.11. On the left are a key cabinet fitted to the side of the chart table, a Decca Navigator and a visual display unit.
