The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is looking to port and aft from 62 station on 02 deck level showing the close range blind fire director between 62 and 65 stations on 01 deck. The canvas cover has been removed to show the director sight, range motor and bearing controls. The sight is trained aft. In the left background are the portable covers over the lift opening in the helicopter flight deck. On the far side of the river alongside the Charles Connell & Co Ltd shipyard fitting out berth at Scotstoun is the cargo liner Bendearg (1964) with the heavy lift cargo liner Inventor (1964) outboard of her.
