The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to port from the bow at 1 deck level showing the anchor cable arrangements, the twin headed capstan, the breakwater, the forward 4.5 inch gun mounting and the face of the superstructure. The ship's bell is on a pole fixed to the front of the breakwater. On the far side of the river alongside the Charles Connell & Co Ltd shipyard fitting out berth at Scotstoun is the cargo liner Bendearg (1964) with the heavy lift cargo liner Inventor (1964) outboard of her.
