The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is in the wardroom between 50 and 56 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft and to port. The wardroom table is in the foreground and it is fitted with rough weather trays at each seating position. The lounge area is fitted with an electric fire, a club fender, settee benches, armchairs, coffee tables and a drinks unit fitted with a beer pump and brackets to hold spirit bottle optics. A curtain on a rail is used to separate the dining area from the lounge area.
