The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is looking to port and slightly aft into the starboard GWS director power room between 60½ and 62½ stations on the starboard side of the centreline on 1 deck. This space is shown on the Admiralty plan curator number 918093/2 (NMM plan No. NPD1717) as the starboard C.R.B.F. compartment (Z112). An Hewittic Rectifier manufactured by Hackbridge & Hewittic Electric Co Ltd of Walton-on-Thames, a motor generator control panel manufactured by Electro Dynamic Construction Co Ltd of Bridgwater and an audio protection unit are against the port bulkhead. A small motor generator is on the deck. Fire control junction boxes 28 and 29 are against the aft bulkhead.
