The photographer is in the A/S metadyne and 4.5 inch metadyne power room between 27 and 32 stations on 3 deck looking to port from the starboard side. On the right are a fuse panel for supplies to the 4.5 inch mounting, the vertical steel ladder leading up to 2 deck, the hatch leading down to 4 deck, the door to the asdic instrument compartment and two lockers. In the foreground against the aft bulkhead is a panel labelled '4.5 mounting forward & asdic 177'. On the deck are two metadyne motors and against the port side is a metadyne starter panel.
