The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is in the forward 4.5 inch magazine and shell room between 37 and 41 stations on the port side of 4 deck looking to port and slightly aft showing the two shell and cartridge hoists. On the left are the shell racks and on the right are the bottle racks for the cartridges. Against the ship's side is a rack for the storage of five drill shells.
