The type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) alongside the Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd fitting out berth at Linthouse, Glasgow during the final stages of building prior to 16 April 1964. The photographer is in the conversion machinery room between 45 and 48 stations on 4 deck looking slightly forward and to starboard from near the centreline at 47½ station. The pitometer log controller and the log tube are in the left foreground with a small motor generator, a large Small Electric Motors Ltd motor generator and a tall cupboard next to them. Against the ship's side are two searchlight rectifiers and two 5 KW 24V rectifiers. Against the aft bulkhead are a ventilation fan and trunk, starter panels, transformers and fuse panels.
