On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) in Rosyth Dockyard during a lengthy refit which was completed in December 1974. The photographer is looking forward and to port from 36 station on the starboard side of 1 deck showing the Mark 5* Mod 1 4.5 inch gun mounting fitted with rocket launching rails on the sides. The canvas back curtain is furled to reveal the breech arrangements. Wicker fenders are on deck ahead of the mounting.
