On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) in Rosyth Dockyard during a lengthy refit which was completed in December 1974. The photographer is in the junior rates dining hall between 50 and 56 stations on 2 deck looking to port and forward showing two tables with plastic chairs set athwartships. A cold sweets unit and an international compressed air breathing apparatus Mk. 2 cabinet are against the forward bulkhead. A circular oiltight scuttle in the deck has been removed. This scuttle leads down to the dieso tanks on 4 deck.
