On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) in Rosyth Dockyard during a lengthy refit which was completed in December 1974. The photographer is in the sonar instrument compartment between 16 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking forward and to port showing the sonar cabinets G, K and L against the port side of the ship. Sonar cabinet No. 1, two fuse panels, a starter panel and a 3 compartment storage unit are against the forward bulkhead. In the left foreground is the cover over the hull outfit 19 (sonar type 170) trunk being used as a worktop. In the right foreground is the hand operated dome hoisting winch.
