On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Zulu (1962) in Rosyth Dockyard during a lengthy refit which was completed in December 1974. The photographer is in the spare engine and deck store between 68 and 69 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft showing a sliding door cupboard unit on the left with an open shelf above it under the deckhead. Two lockers are against the aft bulkhead and a chain hoist is fitted to the deckhead. A wooden packing case, a large sack, a cardboard box, a five gallon drum, some portable machinery and what appears to be a spare helicopter wheel and oleo are on the deck secured by a continuous chain running from a reel fitted against the port bulkhead. The photographer's list describes this space as the 'ECU'.
