On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside the fitting out berth at the Yarrow & Co Ltd shipyard at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The photographer is in the midship deck store between 58¾ and 60½ stations to starboard of the centreline on 1 deck looking to port and forward showing the A/AC/12 boiler room exhaust fan on the right. A work bench with a cupboard below and shelf above is against the port bulkhead and is fitted with a vice. Also stowed against the port bulkhead are an heavy shackle linkage, wire strops and a hank of rope. A storage shelf is on the left.
