On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Ashanti (1959) alongside the fitting out berth at the Yarrow & Co Ltd shipyard at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The photographer is in the hawser reel compartment between C and 5 stations on 2 deck looking forward and slightly to starboard showing three wire hawser reels on the centreline. Hanging against the starboard side is a large coil of rope. A coil of rope with a shackle at one end and a rove eye at the other is stowed against the port side and another coil of rope is in the awning stowage area behind timber battens in the stem.
